San Francisco debe estar ahora hermoso. Viv\u00ed all\u00ed en 1907, cuando gran parte de la ciudad estaba en ruinas, y uno de mis intentos revolucionarios en M\u00e9xico tambi\u00e9n estaba en ruinas. Me ocult\u00e9 con mi pena entre las ruinas, cuando sobre mi cabeza pend\u00eda un premio de 20.000 d\u00f3lares que se hab\u00eda ofrecido por mi arresto; el servicio secreto de las dos naciones me persegu\u00eda de un lugar a otro, de ciudad en ciudad. Era cuesti\u00f3n de vida o muerte para m\u00ed, porque mi arresto significaba mi pase inmediato a M\u00e9xico y asesinado all\u00ed sin ninguna apariencia de juicio. Ya ves, mi querido hermano, c\u00f3mo tengo muy buenas razones para recordar San Francisco. \u00a1Cu\u00e1ntos d\u00edas pas\u00e9 sin llevarme un pedazo de pan a la boca! Algunas veces me pasaba tres o cuatro d\u00edas sin comer, y durante esos ayunos forzados pensaba en los miserables que matan por una pieza de pan, porque yo mismo me sent\u00eda asaltado por instintos asesinos, y habr\u00eda matado si mis ideales no me hubieran apartado de esos pensamientos.<\/em>…..\u00bb<\/p>\n
